Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim reportedly vented his frustration in an intense post-match outburst following the team’s 3-1 defeat to Brighton.
According to The Athletic, Amorim’s anger led to a physical and verbal expression of his dissatisfaction, with a TV screen in the dressing room being damaged in the process. The screen, used for tactical briefings, became collateral damage during the heated exchange.
The reaction reportedly caught players off guard, as Amorim is known for maintaining composure and analyzing matches the day after a game. However, this defeat marked a departure from his usual approach, highlighting the mounting pressure at the club.

Fans Back Amorim’s Passion
Despite the incident, Manchester United fans have rallied behind the Portuguese manager, expressing support for his fiery response. One supporter wrote on social media:
“I don’t care what Ruben Amorim did in the dressing room after the Brighton game, I’m 100% backing him over every single player. Step it up and fight for the badge, or f*** off.”
Another commented:
“This is what we need. Players need to wake up and turn up.”
A third added:
“Excellent. He’s just what United need right now. Passionate, hungry to succeed, and ruthless. Every confidence in Amorim to succeed.”
One fan even likened him to Sir Alex Ferguson, saying:
“The modern era of Fergie. Sir Ruben Amorim.”
Amorim Acknowledges Dire Situation
In his post-match press conference, the 39-year-old manager didn’t shy away from criticizing his team’s current state, labeling them “the worst team maybe in the history of Manchester United.”
Amorim stated:
“In ten games in the Premier League, we’ve won two. Imagine this for a fan of Manchester United, imagine this for me. You are getting a new coach who is losing more than the last coach. We need to survive this moment.”
Breaking Records for the Wrong Reasons
United’s struggles at Old Trafford have reached historic lows. The team has lost six home games in their first 12 league matches this season, a record not seen since the 1893-94 campaign.
Currently sitting 13th in the Premier League table, United are closer to the relegation zone (10 points) than the top four (12 points).
A Tactical Vision Under Strain
Amorim also criticized his team’s lack of tactical discipline in crucial moments, particularly during the closing stages of matches. He noted:
“I knew it was going to be hard to implement a completely new idea, but when you lose games and don’t win three games in a row, it becomes even harder.
“We can lose, but we have to maintain position. If I want to show something to the media or fans, I’d put two strikers. But I didn’t because that would make it harder for the players to understand the way we play.”
The manager emphasized his commitment to staying the course despite the challenges, concluding:
“We’re breaking all the bad records. It’s something we need to change, and it’s a matter of pride.”
United’s next challenge will be to reverse their fortunes as they aim to climb the table and restore confidence in their season.
